In short: your files stay with you. The conversion runs entirely in your browser — there is no upload to a server, no cloud and no temporary storage with us or third parties. Our converters are deliberately built to put privacy and security first.

General information and legal bases
Protecting your personal data matters to us. We process your data exclusively within the scope of the statutory provisions (GDPR, BDSG, TDDDG).
Depending on the case, the legal bases for processing are: your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures ((b)), a legal obligation ((c)) or our legitimate interest ((f)). Storing and reading information on your device (e.g. cookies) is governed by § 25 TDDDG.
What makes Filemanta special: the actual file conversion takes place entirely in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to a server, not stored and not shared with third parties. There is no server-side processing of your files.
Hosting
Our website is hosted by:
ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, owner René Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany.
When you visit the website, the hosting provider processes technically necessary access data in server log files (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, page accessed, amount of data transferred, browser type, referrer). This is required to deliver the website securely and reliably. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure, functional operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). A data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with the hosting provider.
Cookies and consent management
We use cookies and similar technologies. We use technically necessary cookies (e.g. to store your language or consent choice) on the basis of our legitimate interest and § 25 (2) TDDDG — no consent is required for these.
We load all non-essential cookies and services (in particular the advertising and analytics services listed below) only after you have given your consent. You manage your consent via our cookie banner (consent tool). You can adjust or withdraw your choice at any time via the “Settings” link in the footer. The legal basis for services requiring consent is Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR in conjunction with § 25 (1) TDDDG.
Advertising: Google AdSense
We fund Filemanta through Google AdSense, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. AdSense uses cookies to serve ads and measure their performance; with personalised advertising, your usage behaviour is analysed.
AdSense is loaded only after you have given your consent. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. The recipient is Google; data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which serves as the basis for the transfer.
Analytics: Google Analytics (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, to understand and improve how our website is used (e.g. page views, approximate origin, devices used). Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data.
The service is loaded only after you have given your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Fonts (hosted locally)
All fonts used on this website are hosted locally on our server (self-hosted). No external font services (e.g. Google Fonts) are loaded. When you visit the site, no connection to a font provider is established and no IP address is transmitted to one.
Contact by e-mail
If you contact us by e-mail (contact(at)filemanta(dot)com), we process your details (e-mail address, content) to handle your request. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) or Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where a contractual relationship is concerned. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required.
Recipients and transfers to third countries
The recipients of your data are the service providers named above, acting as processors. Where data is transferred to the USA (Google), this is based on the EU Commission’s adequacy decision on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; the providers named are certified. Note: this framework is under legal review and may change in the future. We will update this policy as needed.
Storage period
We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes stated or as required by statutory retention obligations. Cookie lifetimes depend on the respective service and are shown in the cookie banner.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21 GDPR).
You can withdraw consent you have given at any time with effect for the future — most easily via “Settings” in the footer. The lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal remains unaffected.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the authority responsible for us in Hesse (Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).
Data security
This website uses SSL/TLS encryption (recognisable by “https://”) to protect the transmission of your data.
Changes to this privacy policy
We will update this privacy policy if services, features or the legal situation change. The current version published on this page applies.
