The rules for Filemanta: free file converters in your browser, what you may do, what we are liable for and what happens to your files.

In short: Filemanta is free, with no account and no limits. Your files are converted in your browser and are not uploaded. Use the tools fairly and only for files you are allowed to use. Check important results before you share them, and keep your originals.

Scope

These terms of service apply to the website filemanta.com and all tools offered on it (for example JPG to PDF, PDF to JPG or HEIC to JPG). By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Filemanta.

You do not need an account and you do not have to sign up anywhere. There are no costs.

Provider

Filemanta is provided by Filemanta File Converter. You can find the full provider details in the Imprint.

What Filemanta offers

Filemanta provides free tools that let you convert files from one format to another.

  • The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to our servers, not stored and not shared with third parties.
  • The result is created directly on your device. We receive neither your original files nor the converted files.
  • There is no limit on the number of conversions. How large a file can be depends on your device’s memory and your browser.

We keep developing Filemanta. We may change, add, temporarily switch off or discontinue tools. There is no right to any specific tool or feature.

Free and funded by ads

Filemanta is free for you. We fund its operation through ads from Google AdSense. Which data is processed and how you manage your consent is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Please do not click ads artificially or have them loaded automatically. Such clicks break the rules of the ad network and put the free service at risk.

Permitted use

You may use Filemanta for private and business purposes, for example for job applications, invoices, forms or photos.

The following applies:

  • Only convert files that you lawfully own and are allowed to use.
  • You are responsible for the content of your files and for what you do with the results.
  • Follow applicable law, in particular the copyright, personality and data protection rights of others.

What is not allowed

  • Accessing Filemanta automatically on a large scale (for example with bots, scripts or crawlers) if this puts load on the website or disrupts its operation. Indexing by search engines is not affected.
  • Bypassing security measures, attacking the website or injecting malicious code.
  • Copying Filemanta or parts of it (texts, design, logo, code) and publishing it as your own offering, reselling it or embedding it in other sites (framing).
  • Manipulating ads, for example through artificial clicks or automated views.

If someone breaks these rules, we may restrict their access to the website.

Your files and your rights

All rights to your files remain with you. Since your files never leave your device, we have no access to them and need no rights to use them.

When you close or reload the page, the selected files and results disappear from the browser. Your originals on your device stay unchanged. So save your results with the download button before you leave the page.

Results without warranty

We build our tools carefully and test them with real files. Even so, results can differ from what you expect, for example:

  • Colors, sharpness or file size differ from the original, for example if you choose a lower quality level.
  • Extra information such as the date taken or location is not carried over during conversion.
  • Damaged, protected or unusually structured files cannot be converted, or only partly.

So check important results before you share or submit them. Only delete your original files once you are happy with the result.

Availability

We do our best to keep Filemanta available at all times. However, we cannot guarantee constant availability, for example during maintenance, technical faults or problems with our hosting provider.

Filemanta needs an up-to-date browser with JavaScript turned on. On very old browsers or devices with little memory, some tools may not work or only work partly.

Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz).

Since Filemanta is free of charge, we are otherwise not liable for slight negligence. This applies in particular to faulty conversion results, lost files or damage caused by the website being temporarily unavailable.

Filemanta contains ads and links to websites of other providers. The respective provider alone is responsible for their content. You can find more on this in the Imprint.

The texts, graphics, logo, design and code of Filemanta are protected by copyright. You may only use them as part of normal use of the website.

For conversion, we use proven open-source libraries that we host ourselves on our server. Their own licenses apply to them:

  • jsPDF (MIT License) for creating PDF files
  • PDF.js (Apache License 2.0) for reading PDF files
  • JSZip (MIT License) for ZIP archives
  • libheif (GNU LGPL) for HEIC photos

Privacy

We explain in detail how we handle data in the Privacy Policy. The most important point: your files are not uploaded.

Changes to these terms of service

We update these terms when tools, features or the legal situation change. The version shown on this page at the time of your use always applies.

Applicable law

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. If you use Filemanta as a consumer whose habitual residence is in another EU country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country remain unaffected.

If any provision of these terms of service is invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid.
