Delete PDF Pages
- 100 % in the browser
- No server uploads
- Free forever
To delete pages from a PDF, drop the file into the box above. Tap the pages you want gone in the preview, or type their numbers, for example “2, 5-7”. Tap “Delete pages” and download the new PDF. Your PDF is not uploaded; it is edited right on your device.
How to delete pages from a PDF
Choose your PDF
Drag your PDF into the box above or tap “Choose PDF”. You then see every page as a small preview with its number.
Mark the pages
Tap each page that should go. It fades and gets a red cross. You can also type the numbers, such as “2, 5-7”. On a computer, hold Shift to mark a whole run of pages at once.
Delete the pages
Tap “Delete pages”. Your device creates a new PDF without those pages, usually in a few seconds. Your original stays unchanged.
Download the new PDF
Tap “Download PDF”. The file keeps the name of your PDF plus “-pages-removed”, for example “contract-pages-removed.pdf”.
When do you need this?
Blank pages after scanning
Double-sided scanning often leaves empty back pages in the PDF. Mark them and delete them in one go, and the document is half as long.
Trim applications and paperwork
Drop the cover sheet, ad pages or old attachments from a long file before you send it to a job portal, an agency or your insurer.
Private pages before sharing
A bank statement or contract has pages nobody else should see? Delete them before you send the PDF. They are really gone from the new file, not just hidden.
Remove duplicate pages
After merging several PDFs, a page shows up twice? You spot it right away in the preview and tap it away.
Deleting PDF pages: built-in tools or Filemanta?
On a Mac, the Preview app handles this well: show thumbnails, select the page, press Delete, save. Windows and Android have no way to delete pages from a PDF. There, the only route is “Print” to PDF, listing every page that should stay.
Filemanta shows every page as a preview and you tap the ones you don’t need. The remaining pages are copied unchanged, not reprinted: text stays selectable, links and image quality are kept.
| Feature | Built-in tools | With Filemanta |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Only via “Microsoft Print to PDF”, listing every page to keep | Tap pages in the preview |
| Mac | Preview app: select the page, press Delete, save | Just as easy, and the same on every device |
| iPhone and iPad | Possible in the Files app on some iOS versions, changes the original right away | New PDF, your original stays |
| Android | No built-in feature, only the print workaround | Works in Chrome and any current browser |
| Adobe Acrobat Reader | Deleting pages needs a subscription, online only with a server upload | Free, no server upload |
| Text and links | The print workaround usually drops links | Pages are copied 1:1 |
Good to know
- Several pages at once: “2, 5-7” deletes page 2 and pages 5 to 7. “8-” means from page 8 to the end. On a computer, mark a run with Shift: click the first page, then the last.
- Keeping only a few pages?: Then Extract PDF Pages is quicker: there you tap the pages you want to keep.
- Pages stay unchanged: The remaining pages are copied 1:1, not reprinted and not turned into images. Text stays searchable, and size and orientation stay the same.
- What doesn't carry over: The table of contents in the sidebar (bookmarks) is not kept. Fillable form fields become fixed text with their content. A digital signature is no longer valid afterwards.
Tip: Below the input box you can see how many pages will remain. That way you can check everything before deleting.
Note: Protected PDFs (with a password or editing restrictions) can’t be edited. Open the file in a PDF app and use “Print” to save a copy as PDF. You can then use that copy here.
Troubleshooting
Why is my PDF rejected as “protected”?
The PDF is encrypted, either with a password to open it or with restrictions that forbid changes. A browser can’t edit such files. Open the PDF in a PDF app, enter the password if needed and use “Print” → “Save as PDF” to make an unprotected copy.
“There is no page 12”: what does that mean?
You typed a page number larger than the PDF. How many pages it has is shown at the top, next to the file name. Count with the numbers under the previews, not with the page numbers printed in the document. Those often start after the cover page.
Why can't I delete every page?
A PDF without pages doesn’t exist. At least one page has to stay. If you want to get rid of the whole document, simply delete the file on your device.
The new file is barely smaller.
Fonts and images that also appear on the remaining pages naturally stay in. If the deleted pages were mostly text, that saves little space. Large photos on deleted pages, on the other hand, make the file much smaller.
I can't find the new PDF on my iPhone. Where is it?
Safari saves downloads in the Files app, in the “Downloads” folder. There you’ll find the PDF with “-pages-removed” in its name.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser, on your own device. Your PDF is never sent to a server, never stored and never seen by us. Close the tab and it is gone from memory.
You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools (F12), switch to the “Network” tab and create the new PDF. Your PDF does not show up as an upload. What you may see are page resources and, if you agreed to them, ads or statistics.
FAQ
Is deleting PDF pages on Filemanta free?
Yes, completely. There is no limit on pages or files, no watermark, no subscription and no account. You can delete pages as often as you like.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is read and edited in your browser, on your own device. It is never sent to a server. That matters for contracts, bank statements or medical letters.
How do I delete a single page from a PDF?
Load the PDF above, tap the page in the preview and then tap “Delete pages”. You get a new PDF without that page.
Can I delete several pages at once?
Yes. Tap every page that should go, or type them into the box, for example “1, 4-6, 10”. All marked pages are removed in one go.
Are the deleted pages really gone?
Yes. Filemanta creates a new PDF and copies only the pages that should stay. The deleted pages are not hidden in the file; they are missing entirely. Your original on your device stays unchanged.
Is the quality kept?
Yes. The remaining pages are taken over unchanged; nothing is recompressed or turned into images. Text stays selectable and searchable.
Can I delete pages from a PDF on my phone?
Yes, on iPhone and Android in the browser, no app needed. Pick the PDF from Files or your Downloads folder, tap the pages you don't need and download the new PDF.
How do I delete PDF pages on a Mac without extra software?
Open the PDF in Preview, turn on thumbnails under “View”, select the page and press Delete. Then save. Filemanta is just as quick and also works on Windows PCs and phones.
What is the finished file called?
It keeps the name of your PDF and gets “-pages-removed” added, for example “contract-pages-removed.pdf”. That way you won't mix it up with the original.
